Nixon Gardening 101

So we decided that we would try our hand at gardening this summer. So, we mapped out where we wanted it to be and went from there. One of our friend's dad let us borrow a tiller, so Jodie got to work. The next day, we got our rows mapped out and started planting. We decided to try beans, corn, peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, cucmbers, tomatoes, and some different kinds of lettuces. We had a great time planting, especially Sam. She was covered from head to toe with dirt (you should have seen the bath water later that night!). She loved planting the seeds with us and then covering them all up. After lunch, we decided to take the tiller back to Mr. Smith. I don't think we were in the car for more than 5 minutes before she passed out. I just love it when she plays herself to sleep!

Sam's First Haircut!

Here she is at age 2 1/2 and just now getting a haircut! I had been struggling with this for a very long time. It was the last thing left of my baby girl! But, the time had come - she was looking a little scraggly. So, off we went to the stylist. I found a local place that does kids under 3 for free! She was so good! She did not flinch even once. Somehow I didn't manage to get a picture of this, but when they were all done, they gave her her choice of a Duncan Donut, and, of course, she chose the pink frosted one. By the time we got home, that pink frosting was EVERYWHERE! But, she deserved it. Now, she's just a big girl, no more baby left. Good thing we have one on the way!

Nixon Family Get-Together

Every year the Nixon's (at least most of them) try to gather in 1 spot for a weekend or more for a visit. This year, Jodie's cousin, Tonya, and her family had everyone come down to their house. Aunt Pam and Uncle Stephen brought their camper so that more of us could stay at the house instead of getting a hotel. We spent the weekend riding 4-wheelers and motorcycles, playing T-ball and dress-up. There was basketball and a lot of just sitting around catching up. I know that it sounds a little red, but it was quite fun - I don't care who you are! We enjoyed spending time with everyone and "camping" in the driveway. Thanks Tonya and Family - it was THE BEST weekend we have had in a long time and absolutely the best campground we've ever been too! Can't wait to come back!

MOPS Playdate

Our MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group tries to ge together for a playdate once a month. This time we went to the playspace at a local church. The turn out was pretty low, but the 3 kids had a ball playing together. It was a lot of fun.

Rainy Saturday at the Museum

On a Saturday in April, the first Saturday in a long time that we were at home, it was raining, of course. So, we met some friends at a museum Downtown for the day to escape all the wet. We and the Coonse's had a great time, especially the kids. Sam loved seeing all the animals and then dressing up as all the different bugs later on. She insisted upon wearing her sunglasses on the way to the museum, even though it was pouring down rain. On the way home, though, she just passed out!

Dr. Appt.

This morning we had our first of many 15 second doctor's appointments. While I look forward to all of them, they really seam a little pointless when you spend all that time waiting just to see the doc for 15 seconds. But, there is always that little reward that makes it all worth it. It is always nice to hear that all is well with our Baby-To-Be. She didn't tell me the bpm, but we did hear the little heartbeat and, again, it was beating away. And, again, it brought tears to my eyes. I am constantly amazed at the miracle of childbirth, and everyday I wonder how someone can go through all of this, or just simply be a witness to it, and still believe that there is no God! I just do not understand it. Jodie couldn't go with us this morning (bummer) but Sam was there and was also excited to hear her Baby Brother or Sister (although Sam usually says Baby Brother and Sister - we keep telling her that there is ONLY 1!). As we were leaving, we were able to schedule the most exciting appointment of all - the ultrasound!!!!! In just 4 weeks, we will be able to tell you if this little one is a girl or a boy (assuming that we decide to find out and can)! I can't wait! There are so many things that I want to do, but can't until we know if we will have another daughter or a precious little son. So, make your vote to the right of this, you only have 4 more weeks!
