A Day at the Durham Museum

Today, a friend of mine invited Sam and me to the Durham Museum. We had a lot of fun. Sam saw lots of butterflies, a bull, some goats and sheep, and so much more. She and Weston played so hard that on the way home they both just crashed. They were sooo cute sound asleep in their carseats. Thanks again Brandy for taking us!

Little Miss Independence

The other morning at breakfast, Sam just proved to me that she was not a baby anymore, but a little girl. There was no way she was sitting in the highchair with the tray. She wanted to eat at the big-girl table. And there was no way I was feeding her. She insisted on feeding herself. It was very liberating for me, yet it left me feeling extremely heartbroken. Only a mother would understand.

Tea Time

My Grandmother and Grandfather Pixley took a trip to China when I was a little girl and brought a real China tea set back for me. I shared it with Sam and she just loved it. She picked right up on pretending to pour and drink her tea. But, since this set is so precious, I bought her a new set for Valentine's. Fortunately, she hasn't missed the expensive set.

Tunnel Time

Every week, the local recreation center has open gym for the kids. It gives them a chance to run around and play, stay active during these cold winter months. I just recently found out about it, thanks to a new friend from church. So this week, I packed Sam up and took her to play. She had a ball, as you can tell. The gym was overflowing with toddlers and their mothers. It really was fun.

One day last week, Sam brought me her baby and a diaper out of her closet, threw them both down on the floor in front of me, and said, "Di-Di" which is her word for diaper. So, we put the diaper on the baby (size 4 diaper on a premie-sized doll - quite funny). She then proceded to take the diaper on and off of the doll. Next thing I knew, she was trying to put her in the highchair. So I helper her out and lowered the chair so that she could get to her baby. I gave her one of her little spoons and a small dish and Sam commenced to feeding her baby. It is absolutely amazing to see what they pick up at such a young age! And, wow, the differences between little boys and little girls!!! My nephews could've cared less about diapers and highchairs!!!

Snow!!!

Sam had seen snow before, but she was only 2 months at the time. But on February 1st, we got about an inch of snow. Mom was in town too. We bundled up in our warm coats and went out to explore the new white stuff. Unfortunately, it turned to sleet and rain right as we were getting outside, so we weren't able to play too long, but the time we had was a lot of fun.

Future Golfer in the House

Sam got a couple of golf clubs for Christmas. Jodie is determined to make her love golf, become a pro, and let him retire early. I am not complaining! She really has fun with it. When she remembers to hold the club with both hands, she really hits if good. Look out Thomas and Bennett - here she comes!

Another Weekend...Another Road Trip!

This time to Virginia. My cousin is pregnant and due in March. So we headed up for a baby shower for little Jackie. We had a really good time. It was nice to have an opportunity to spend some time with family we rarely see, some who have never even met Sam until now. This is a picture of Sam with another one of my cousins' daughter, Caroline. Little Caroline was a life saver that night. We went to dinner with the entire family and were at the restaurant for 3 hours. Caroline and Sam had the best time together. It was sooooo nice having help entertaining a 16 mo old for 3 hours in a restaurant. Thanks Caroline!!!
